Beaver Men’s Hockey Gameday – Game 34 – February 23, 2019 – vs Bowling Green

The Bemidji State University men’s ice hockey team (15-13-5; 13-9-3-2 WCHA) honors six seniors tonight on Senior Night. The group of Dan Billett, Ian Janco, Jay Dickman, Mike Soucier, Dillon Eichstadt and Justin Baudry will skate in their last regular-season home game tonight.

The BSU penalty-kill unit was 3-for-4 versus the Falcons Friday and is 100-for-115 (.870) in 2018-19, which includes 74-of-83 in WCHA play (.892) to lead the league. BGSU’s power-play goal was the first BSU has surrendered since the second period of its Dec. 30th game stretching back 40 opportunities.

Tonight also marks the final regular season ride on the Zamboni for Vance Ballstad. He’s driven the Zamboni for Beaver games for over 40 years! Vance is retiring after the season.

Our pregame coverage begins at 6:30pm CST, with the faceoff set for 7:07pm tonight on Mix 103.7 and online at beaverradionetwork.com.

Vance memories: I remember when coach Aaron (football) had me go talk to vance about getting 125 – 150 hockey pucks and number stickers that would stay on the puck not the ice for the start of Chuck a Puck – it was a sports marketing and promotion class project.

I remember when vance wore the tux on the Zamboni 😀

My last memory of Coach Peters and Vance was when Vance made the guys put coach peters down before stepping off the ice after Coach’s last game at the Glas.

Listening in again tonight from Greenville, IL. (Been awhile since I have emailed the booth, but been catching many of the broadcasts through the season – via video).

Just wanted to drop a line and say thanks for keeping the Beavers on the ‘net/airwaves!

    Go Beavers!

Hey guys, I’m listening to you just outside of Philadelphia. It’s an evening of multitasking between your Beavers broadcast & the Flyers-Penguins game on NBC. Maybe it’s time to turn off the TV?
Hoping for a strong finish in the 3rd period!

A little multi tasking going on in DC as well with the Flyers game on in the background but watching your live feed. So nice to see Justin score from the point on Senior night but sure would be nice to see one from the point from Muck to win it tonight!
