BSU flies down for Disney Cross Country Classic 5K in Orlando, Fla.

The ESPN World Wide of Sports will serve as the host site for the Bemidji State University cross country program as the team will run in its final regular-season meet of the season. The Beavers will run a 5,000-meter race at 8:25 a.m. at the Disney Cross Country Classic in Orlando, Fla., Saturday, Oct. 12.

The Beavers finished ahead of 12 programs Saturday, Sept. 28 at the 2019 Roy Griak Invitational in Falcon Heights, Minn. Sophomore Ryne Prigge improved on her overall finish from the same event a year ago, jumping 19 sports to 60th with a time of 24:03.1 in 2019. Senior Kristen Petron followed Prigge for the second consecutive meet with a 132nd-place time of 25:08.7. Lily Johnson was one of three BSU freshmen to run in their first career 6K event as she took 183rd with a time of 25:49.6.

Compared to the same event last season, BSU improved its average time among its top five finishers by over one and a half minutes.

Bemidji State will run a 6K race with Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference honors on the line at the conference championship Saturday, Oct. 26. The Beavers will begin at 11 a.m. from Wayne, Neb., at the Wayne Country Club.
