The Bemidji State University women’s hockey team held Rennselaer Polytechnic Institute to a program record low six shots on goal en-route to a series opening 2-0 win in Troy, N.Y. The Beavers (6-8-1, 4-6-0 WCHA) totaled a season-high 45 shots on goal while junior Clair DeGeorge and senior Jacqueline Kaasa scored the lone goals in the game.
The Beavers break a 19-year record that was set on Jan. 7, 2000 when the Beavers held Concordia University-Moorhead to seven shots on goal.
Redshirt junior Lauren Bench earned her second shutout of the season and eighth of her career after stopping all six shots by the Engineers (0-15-1, 0-6-0 ECAC). Junior Mak Langei posted two assists to lead the Beavers while seniors Kiki Radke and Haley Mack each had an assist.
Bemidji State started the scoring with Clair DeGeorge’s second goal of the season 5:52 into the opening period. The Beavers added to their lead in the second period with a power-play goal from senior Jacqueline Kaasa at 8:49 of the period for her second tally of the season.
