Bemidji State set for WCHA clash at Michigan Tech

The Bemidji State University men’s hockey team (7-6-3; 2-3-1 WCHA) returns to the road this weekend, making a trip to Houghton, Mich. for a two-game Western Collegiate Hockey Association series with Michigan Technological University (14-5-1; 4-2-0 WCHA). The puck is set to drop at 6:07 p.m. (CT) Friday and Saturday’s series finale will take place at 5:07 p.m. (CT) from MacInnes Arena.

The series marks the third and fourth times the Beavers and Huskies have met this season. When the teams clashed at Sanford Center Dec. 12-13, BSU opened the series with a 6-3 victory behind a goal and an assist from Alex Ierullo and a pair of assists from Owen Sillinger and Aaron Miller. The Huskies bounced back in game two posting a 3-0 victory.

Since the teams first met in 2007, MTU holds a 17-13-6 edge in the series, which includes a 8-3-5 mark when hosting the Beavers in Houghton, Mich. However, BSU has lost just once in its last seven meetings with MTU (5-1-1).

At 14-5-1 overall and 4-2-0 in league play, Michigan Tech is one of the hottest teams in the WCHA. Since the last time these teams met, the Huskies are 12-2-0 and come into the week of action riding a six game winning streak and is fourth in the league standings. After six league games this season, BSU is 2-3-1 an sits in sixth place.
