The Bemidji State University women’s hockey team opened its Western Collegiate Hockey Association road series at No. 2 Ohio State University by falling 7-0 to the Buckeyes. The Beavers (1-2-0, 1-2-0 WCHA) were out-shot 53-13 in the game with senior Kerigan Dowhy stopping 29-of-32 shots and senior Lexi Baker stopping 17-of-21 shots.
The 7-0 loss marks the first time the Beavers were shutout this season.
Dowhy started the game in net for the Beavers and played the first two periods and allowed three goals on 32 shots before Baker came in to play the third period and allowed four goals on 21 shots. Dowhy earned the loss in the crease and falls to 1-2-0 to begin this season.
The Beavers will attempt to earn the series split with the second-ranked Buckeyes tomorrow afternoon with puck drop for game two at 3:01 p.m. EDT.
