Beaver Football slotted seventh in second week of Super Region 4 rankings

Despite coming off its largest margin of victory this season, the Bemidji State University football team dropped one spot in the 2021 NCAA Division II Super Region 4 Rankings, as released on Monday.

Bemidji State improved to 7-2 overall following a 48-14 win over Southwest Minnesota State University on Saturday, Oct. 30 in Bemidji, Minn. The Beavers remain the second-highest ranked Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference team in the region and received votes for the second straight week in the American Football Coaches’ Association (AFCA) Top 25 Poll.

The NSIC, Great Northeast Athletic Conference, Lone Star Conference and Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference make up the NCAA Super Region 4.

Seven teams from the four regions will earn a spot in the NCAA DII football championship tournament with the number one seed in each region receiving a first-round bye. Once the teams reach the national semifinals, the four teams are seeded No. 1 through No. 4.

The NCAA DII Football selection show is set to air on NCAA.com on Sunday, Nov. 14 at 4 p.m.

Augustana remains the lone team to represent the NSIC in the AFCA Top 25 Poll. Bemidji State received seven votes this week after totaling 20 a week ago.

Bemidji State travels to take on (RV) Northern State University on Saturday, Nov. 6 in Aberdeen, S.D. The Wolves entered the NCAA DII Super Region 4 rankings at No. 10 this week and also received votes in the AFCA Top 25 Poll.
