Beaver Women’s Hockey Gameday – Game 12 – November 20, 2021 – vs Minnesota Duluth

After scoring five goals in the first period, No. 7/6 University of Minnesota Duluth cruised to a 9-0 victory over the Bemidji State University women’s hockey team in their Western Collegiate Hockey Association series opener Friday afternoon. The nine-goal deficit is the Beavers’ biggest loss to the Bulldogs since Feb. 7, 2009.

With the loss, Bemidji State falls to 2-7-2 (1-7-1 WCHA) while Minnesota Duluth improves to 5-4-0 (5-4-0 WCHA).

Elizabeth Giguere paced the Bulldogs by tallying five assists during the game and became the first player since 2013 to record five points in a game for the Bulldogs. She also recorded her 251st career point in the game to become just the 10th player in NCAA history to reach the 250 career point plateau.

Following Giguere was Gabbie Hughes who posted a goal and three assists while Anna Klein totaled two goals and Anneke Linser and Clara Van Wieren each posted a goal and two assists.

Bemidji State was out-shot 50-20 in the game with sophomore Hannah Hogenson making 41-of-50 saves. She falls to 1-4-2 on the season while Emma Soderberg improves to 5-4-0 after a 20-save shutout.

Minnesota Duluth scored two power-play goals on its two chances in the game while the Beavers came up empty on their three chances.

Bemidji State will look to rebound for game two against the Bulldogs when the two teams meet again at 2:01 p.m. tomorrow afternoon.
