Beavers grab event win, 10 top-five finishes as Dakota Alumni Classic

Bemidji State University track & field opened its indoor season Friday at the Dakota Alumni Classic in Fargo, N.D., hosted by North Dakota State University. The Beavers totaled 10 top-five finishes and 23 personal records, led by sophomore sprinter Alaina Hall with three personal records and an event win in the 60-meter dash.

Hall set a personal record time of 7.74 to qualify for the 60m dash finals, where she again broke her personal record. Her first-place time of 7.64 ranks fourth all-time in indoor program history. Hall also set personal records with two third-place finishes in the 200m dash (26.23) and the long jump (5.44m).

Sophomore pole vaulter Megan Judge and junior mid-distance runner Maryse Mbenoun each recorded second place finishes. Judge was just shy of setting the BSU indoor record but set a personal record in the pole vault with a mark of 3.16m. Mbenoun, the NSIC’s reigning 600m run champion, brought in her second-place finish in the 600m run with a time of 1:39.46.

Senior jumper Analise Fabre also neared a BSU indoor record as she finished fourth in the triple jump. Fabre, who owns the BSU indoor record in the event, leaped 11.25m and came within 0.04m of breaking her previous personal record. Newcomer and sophomore sprinter Rachel Myers took third in the 400m dash with a personal record time of 1:00.02.

Bemidji State will have an extended break before its next meet, which is currently scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 22, 2022. The Beavers return to compete at the BSU Alumni Meet at the Gillett Wellness Center in Bemidji, Minn.
