Beaver Soccer Gameday – 9/9/22 vs. Northern State & 9/11/22 vs. MSU Moorhead

Bemidji State University women’s soccer freshman Katrina Barthelt scored her second career goal and senior Alyssa Stumbaugh made three saves to help the Beavers earn a 1-0 victory over Northern State University Friday afternoon at Chet Anderson Stadium.

With the win, the Beavers open the 2022 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference season with a victory and improve to 2-1-1 on the season.

After a scoreless first half, Bemidji State put pressure on the Wolves early in the second half and after a corner kick, senior defender Halle Peterson had a shot blocked that deflected right to Barthelt who kicked the ball into the wide-open net in the 49th minute.

The lone goal would be all the Beavers needed and for the second consecutive game, BSU held the opponent scoreless.

Bemidji State totaled six shots on goal to three by Northern State while it generated five corner kicks to just one for NSU. Stumbaugh stopped all three shots she faced to bring her conference leading save total to 22 on the season.

Barthelt now leads the Beavers with two goals on the season and four points while Peterson recorded her first assist of the season.

After a day off, Bemidji State will return to action Sunday, Sept. 11 to host Minnesota State University, Moorhead at 1:00 p.m., from Chet Anderson Stadium. Tune into our pregame coverage today beginning at 12:30 p.m. on 94.3 FM The Legends in Bemidji or online at www.beaverradionetwork.com.
