Beavers sweep season series against Huskies


The Bemidji State women’s hockey team continued to roll over the St. Cloud State Huskies Saturday afternoon at the National Hockey Center in St. Cloud. The Beavers won both games 3-1 and on the weekend showcased their special teams going 2 for 5 on the powerplay and 10 for 10 on the penalty kill.

While Friday’s game saw all three seniors scoring for BSU, Saturday’s game featured two goals from red shirt sophomore Emily Erickson and the game winner from senior Erin Johnson. Beaver goaltender Zuzana Tomcikova had an outstanding weekend as well having 40 saves on the weekend and improving her record to 9-6-2 on the year.

The Beavers improve their record to 10-7-3 overall and 8-5-3-2 in WCHA play. They currently find themselves three points out of first place in the WCHA standings. They’re ranked 4th in the league behind #1 Wisconsin, #2 Duluth and #3 Minnesota.

BSU takes on the University of North Dakota this Saturday night at 7:07pm in Roseau and Sunday afternoon at 4:07pm at Ralph Engelstad Arena in Grand Forks.
