Beavers look to stay undefeated against after opening weekend

BSU travels to Concordia-St. Paul for non-conference game

Bemidji State University men’s basketball looks to stay undefeated after two strong showings at the American Family Insurance Classic. BSU (2-0) will be traveling to Concordia University-St. Paul in non-conference play Tuesday. They tip-off at 6 p.m. at the Gangelhoff Center in St. Paul, Minn.

BSU opened the season at the American Family Insurance Classic with victories over the University of Nebraska-Kearney and Southern Arkansas University.

The Beavers are now 8-3 in season openers under head coach Mike Boschee

Bemidji State was able to connect on 50% of their shots in their first two games.

The Beavers are led by Sophomore Brandon Christlieb who scored 35 points in his first two games with BSU with 20 coming against UNK in his debut.

Bemidji State returnees Mohamed Kone and John Sutherland round out the top three in scoring with 35 and 32 respectively.

In the season opener for the Beavers all five starters reached double digits and RJ Smith came off the bench and finished with 10.

In RJ Smith’s debut for BSU along with his 10 points record 11 rebounds for his first double-double of the season.

The Beavers turned the ball over 15 time in their two games resulting in 25 points for UNK and SAU while BSU managed to score 20 off turnovers.

Bemidji State enters the week first in the NSIC in scoring offense and 13th defense, and fourth in field goal percentage offense and first in 3-point field goal percentage with 51%. The Beavers are 10th in turnovers but lead the NSIC in assist to turnover ratio.
