BSU Women’s Hockey Records First Home Win of 2013-14

The Bemidji State University women’s hockey team scored just 8:33 seconds into the first period and would not look back as goaltender Brittni Mowat (Fr., Glenboro, Manitoba) turned aside all 14 shots to lead the Beavers to a 5-0 victory over Lindenwood at Sanford Center Friday afternoon to earn her first collegiate shutout.

The scoring got started with Tess Dusik (F, Sr., Oak Bluff, Manitoba) scoring her second goal of the season. Not even two minutes later, Kristine Grenier (F, Jr., St. Leon, Manitoba) scored her second goal in the green and white to extend the lead to two. BSU outshot LU 18-3 in the first period.

The Beavers kept the pressure on the Lions in the second period with similar shot numbers as they did in the first stanza. Bemidji State had 18 shots on goal with three of them finding them the back of the net. Two of the goals were on the power play. Stephanie Anderson (F, R-So., North St. Paul, Minn.) scored her first goal for Bemidji State for one of the power play goals. Hanna Moher (F, So., Milton, Ontario) and Alex Citrowske (F, Jr., Savage, Minn.) also found the net for the Beavers in the period.

Five different players registered goals of the Beavers, while Ivana Bilic (D, So., Coquitlam, British Columbia) paced the team netting a pair of assists.

BSU finished the game with a 45-14 edge in shots on goal, marking the first time since a 5-4 victory at the Ohio State University Feb. 6, 2006 that the Beavers have logged at least 45 shots on goal.

The Beavers, now, 2-2-1 on the season, wrap up their non-conference series with the Lions at 2:07 p.m. tomorrow.
