The Bemidji State women’s hockey team (3-4-1 overall, 0-2-0 WCHA) returns to action this weekend against No. 4 North Dakota (6-1-1 overall, 4-1-1 WCHA). The Beavers are looking to get its first conference victory of the season against UND.Game times are at 2:07 p.m. on both Friday and Saturday from the Sanford Center.
About the Beavers:
-The Beavers dropped a pair of games last weekend at home against No. 1 Minnesota by scores of 4-0 and 4-3.
-BSU’s all-time record against Minnesota drops to 4-56-6.
-Bemidji State had one of its best weekends on defense in the series against Minnesota. The Beavers blocked 64 shots in the series and the Gophers blocked just 28. The defensive effort was spearheaded by senior captain Alex Ehlert (Portage, Wis.) who had led the team with nine blocks.
-Brittni Mowat (Fr., G, Glenboro, Manitoba) continues to be the one constant for the Beavers as the freshman has been in between the pipes for all eight of BSU’s games this season. Mowat has a 3-4-1 record so far with .917 save percentage and a 2.12 goals against average.
-Junior Alex Citrowske (F, Savage, Minn.) had her second two-assist game in Saturday’s game against Minnesota of the season. Citrowske currently leads the Beavers with four assists.
-Sophomore forward Hanna Moher (Milton, Ontario) has been leading goal scorer for the Beavers this season with four. Three of those four goals have come in BSU’s last three contests.
-The Beavers have been one of the conference’s stingiest defenses in the third period. BSU has allowed just two goals in the third period this season. This total is second only to North Dakota who has allowed none.
-15 different Bemidji State players have registered points in eight games this season including three freshmen.
Previewing North Dakota:
-This week the Beavers welcome No. 4 North Dakota to the Sanford Center. UND has held the advantage against the Beavers as it has won nine of the prior ten prior meetings between the two schools. BSU is 28-18-3 all-time against North Dakota
-North Dakota won all four meetings between the two schools last season. Bemidji State almost knocked UND off last year when it was ranked ninth in the country but UND prevailed and won in overtime, 4-3.
-Head Coach Steve Sertich is 14-22-2 against North Dakota.
