The Bemidji State University women’s soccer team secured the No. 6 seed in the NSIC/US Bank Tournament and will face the No. 3 seed University of Minnesota Duluth in the quarterfinal Wednesday at 5 p.m. in Duluth, Minn. The winner will advance to the semifinal round hosted by the highest remaining team and will play with winner between No. 2 seed Winona State University and seventh-seeded Augustana College, Friday at afternoon, with the championship set for 1 p.m. Sunday.

The 2013 NSIC/US Bank Women’s Soccer Tournament champion will earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Central Regional Tournament set for Nov. 15-17.

BSU concluded its regular season with a 2-1 loss at St. Cloud State Sunday to finish 12-6-0 overall and 9-6-0 in NSIC play.

The Beavers make their fifth consecutive appearance in the conference tournament.

After falling to Bemidji State 1-0 Friday, UMD finished the regular season with a 3-1 victory over University of Minnesota Crookston Sunday. The Bulldogs secured the No. 3 seed with an overall record of 13-4-0 with a 12-3-0 mark in league play.

Bemidji State is 3-14-3 all-time in 20 previous meetings with Minnesota Duluth, which includes a 2010 NSIC Tournament quarterfinal meeting in Duluth. The Bulldogs earned a 1-0 victory in that match up.

Since taking over the BSU soccer program in the fall of 2002, head coach Jim Stone’s teams have made the eight-team NSIC tournament in nine of 12 seasons.

Stone-coached teams at BSU are 3-8-2 all-time in postseason play with each of the ties decided by a shootout.
