The Beavers snapped a three-game losing streak Dec. 20 when it defeated University of Minnesota Crookston 75-66 in a home contest that wrapped the 2013 calendar year. The Beavers trailed by as much as 12 in the first half, but closed the final eight minutes on a 19-5 run to hold a 36-32 halftime lead and never trailed by more than two possessions the rest of the way. Senior Kate Warmack totaled 24 points and 17 rebounds to guide BSU and earn NSIC Player of the Week honors.
In conference games only, Warmack ranks tied for second in blocks (1.7 bpg), third in scoring (19.2 ppg), rebounding (11.2 rpg) and field goal percentage (60.5%). Senior Morgan Lee owns 18.7 points per game to rank fourth in the league, while her 32 3-pointers made is first. In NSIC games only, BSU ranks third in field goal percentage defense (38.8%).

• With 11.4 rebounds per game this season, Kate Warmack ranks second in the NSIC and 13th in the nation.

The Warriors
The Winona State women’s basketball team (7-3, 3-3 NSIC) rides a three-game winning streak into the new year, but have yet to find a victory on the road. The Warriors defeated Upper Iowa University 60-44 Dec. 21, guided by a 21-point, seven-rebound effort from Abby Busch. She leads the team in both categories this season with 17.3 points and 7.4 rebounds per game. In conference games this season, WSU is holding its opponents to 59.8 points per game to lead the NSIC.
All-time Series vs. the Warriors
The Beavers and Warriors have battled 73 times since 1973 with BSU owning the all-time advantage 43-29. BSU is 1-4 in the last five meetings, which includes a 78-41 loss last season at Winona State. In the last contest at BSU Gymasium (Feb. 25, 2012), The Warriors defeated the Beavers 73-59.
The Peacocks
The Upper Iowa women’s basketball team (4-6, 3-3 NSIC) had won two games in a row before a 60-44 loss at Winona State. Whitney Kieffer has guided the team in scoring in each of the last three games and is the team’s point leader with 17.5 points per game. Lauren Buck owns 9.4 points and a team-best 7.6 rebounds per game. With a +6.3 rebounding margin in NSIC games, the Peacocks stand second in the league.
All-time Series vs. the Peacocks
The Beavers own the 12-4 all-time advantage against Upper Iowa in a series that dates back to just 2004. BSU had won five straight against the Peacocks until a 79-64 road loss a season ago. In the last home meeting (Feb. 24, 2012), the Beavers downed UIU, 77-72.
NSIC Preseason Poll/Player to Watch
The Bemidji State University women’s basketball team was picked to finish 14th in the 2013-14 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Women’s Basketball Preseason Coaches’ Poll. Senior guard Morgan Lee (Hayward, Wis.) was named BSU’s Player to Watch. The Beavers earned 45 overall points for 14th, while they were pegged eighth in the NSIC North Division.
A Grand Accomplishment
Senior guard Morgan Lee became the 16th player in Bemidji State women’s basketball history to reach 1,000 career points with a 29-point effort in BSU’s 85-61 victory over Western State (Colo.), Nov. 16. Lee follows in the footsteps of her father, David Lee, who scored 2,034 points for the Beavers as a student-athlete from 1984-88. She is currently 13th all-time on Bemidji State’s scoring list.

Senior Kate Warmack is climbing BSU’s career blocks chart and with 93 career swats, she sits fourth. She has 10 blocks this season.

Senior Kate Warmack has recorded eight games with 10 or more rebounds this season and 22 in her career. She owns 558 career boards to sit 63 shy of BSU’s career top 10 list.
Countdown to 400
Head coach Mike Curfman has coached 393 games in his NCAA Division II head coaching career. The Jan. 18 home game against Northern State is set to be his 400th career game as a head coach.
