The Bemidji State University softball team will have a busy week as it closes out the 2014 season with four Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference doubleheaders. The week’s action will begin with twin bills against University of University of Mary and University of Minnesota Crookston at the BSU Softball Field Tuesday and Thursday at noon and 2 p.m., respectively. Then the Beavers will hit the road to take on Winona State University Friday and Upper Iowa University Saturday. Both of the road double dips have a start time of noon.

Scouting the Beavers: Bemidji State (11-25) enters the final week in search of its first conference victory. BSU’s trio of outfielders pace the offense. Lyndsey Peterson (So., Cottonwood, Minn.), Nicole Dupay (Sr., Woodbury, Minn.) and Angie Roberts (Fr., Andover, Minn.) are near the top of all major offensive categories including hits, home runs and runs batted in for the Beavers. Peterson leads BSU in home runs (8) and runs batted in (18), Dupay leads in runs (17) and hits (28), while Roberts paces the squad in doubles (7) and triples (2).

In the circle, the Beavers have used three pitchers. Danielle Jecmen (P, Bloomingdale, Ill.) leads the staff in victories (5), games started (14) and innings pitched (87.2). Junior Allison Roberts (P, Crystal, Minn.) and freshman Jessica Yost (P/1B, Fr., Bemidji, Minn.) have thrown 72 and 66.1 innings, respectively, and both have contributed three wins.

Numbers to keep in mind:

.305 – Bemidji State is batting .305 against left-handed pitchers this season and they will likely face some south paws from UMC and U-Mary.

.416 – Conference opponents have hit .416 this season off of BSU. BSU has hit .175 at the plate in NSIC play.

735 – It has been 735 days since BSU’s last home game at the BSU Softball Field. (April 15, 2012 vs. St. Cloud State).
