After a 4-0-0 start the Bemidji State University women’s ice hockey team earned its first votes in the USCHO.com Division I Women’s Poll since Feb. 20, 2012 Monday as the Beavers received eight votes.

Bemidji State is off to the best start in program history at 4-0-0 under first-year head coach Jim Scanlan. The four game winning streak also ties a program record set during the 2011-12 season.

Fellow Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) members University of Minnesota, University of Wisconsin and University of North Dakota were ranked 1, 2 and 10 in the poll, respectively while University of Minnesota Duluth also received two votes.

Bemidji State is idle this weekend but will return Oct. 17-18 when it opens WCHA play at the Ohio State University. The puck drops at 5:07 p.m. and 11:07 a.m., respectively from Columbus, Ohio.
