The Bemidji State University women’s basketball team is set to open its 2014-15 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference action Nov. 29. The Beavers will host University of Minnesota Crookston for a 2 p.m. tip-off from BSU Gymnasium.

The Beavers are 20-14 all-time against the Golden Eagles with the series inception dating back to Jan. 6, 1996. In the last five meetings, BSU holds a 3-2 record.

During the 2013-14 season the teams split their meetings with the Golden Eagles taking a 104-84 win Nov. 30, 2013 and the Beavers prevailing 75-66 Dec. 20, 2013.

The Bemidji State University women’s basketball team is coming off back-to-back wins last week. The Beavers defeated Northland College (Nov. 18) in its home opener, 97-34 and then battled to an 82-76 victory over Mayville State (Nov. 21).

Tatum Sheley leads BSU’s scoring this season with 62 points (15.5 PPG) as well as in field goals made (24) and three-points shots made (12).

Aimee Pelzer is leading the rebounding effort as she has totaled 23, including 18 defensive boards.

Hanna Zerr led BSU’s scoring against Northland College posting a career-high 19 points shooting 8-of-10 from the field and 3-of-5 from the charity stripe.

Sheley recorded a career-high 24 points in BSU’s win over Mayville State. She shot 10-of-20 from the field and 4-of-9 from three-point range.

Sarah Durand led the team in blocks with five against Mayville State, which also goes down as a career-high.

In non-conference play, the Beavers finish 2-2 and stay undefeated (2-0) in the comfort of BSU Gymnasium.

BSU is shooting 41.4 percent from the field and 29.3 percent from the arch in its first four games of the season.

The team has out rebounded its opponents 181-149 and has marked 27 blocks and 30 steals.

The Beavers are ranked high in a few categories amongst the NSIC as they are first in blocked shots (6.8 BPG), second in rebounding offense (45.2 RPG), third in assists (7.5 APG) and fourth in free throw percentage (76.6%).
