Couple Tidbits From Today

Ranked in order of importance…

WCHA could vote next week on BSU and UNO

Matt Pope signed by Canucks

Former Beaver Todd Knott now assistant at Mankato

My take…

Not at all surprised by the impending vote by the WCHA. I think everyone saw the writing on the wall when Dean Blais was hired. I am surprised that Fairbanks is being mentioned. There are only 58 college hockey teams. If a team had to go to Alaska twice…and tried to use the exemptions in place by playing in Alaska…who would you play? Leagues are so big now, that finding non-conference games is gonna be tough!

As for Matt Pope…this goes to show you what Tom and his staff have done here at BSU. If you look at last years seniors…only Jake Bluhm (grad school and concussions) and Dave Detterding (had a job offer before he graduated) are NOT playing. Climie and Scofield signed to high-end teams this year. Pope, Huddy, Sirianni, Erickson, Schwartbauer, Sedevie, Martens and Weselowski have signed pro contracts in the last few years…many of those in the ECHL and AHL (the two top minor leagues). Cody Bostock is close to signing from what I’ve heard…that’s ten minor leaguers…and one NHL’er in the last few years. Not bad!!!!!

As for Todd Knott, he joined us on Sports in the Round before the Frozen Four…seemed like a great guy. Once a Beaver…always a Beaver! It’s good for Todd to be “back” in college!
