The Bemidji State University women’s basketball team is set to host its first ever basketball games at Sanford Center in Bemidji. The Beavers will host Minnesota State University-Mankato and Concordia University, St. Paul Jan. 16-17 with games scheduled for 6 p.m. and 4 p.m., respectively.

The Series

In the all-time series against Minnesota State, it is the Mavericks with a 28-13 edge and in the last five meetings is 4-1. BSU’s last victory came Jan. 20, 2012 where they took down the Mavericks in a 72-71 nail biter.
Concordia-St. Paul enters the weekend action with the Beavers holding a 26-12 all-time record, dating back to 1978. In the last meeting, the Beavers defeated the Golden Bears 52-49 Feb. 15, 2014.

The Beavers went 1-2 last week as they defeated Valley City State (Jan. 6) 73-54 and then fell in their NSIC weekend at Minnesota Duluth (Jan. 9) 78-65 and at St. Cloud State (Jan. 10) 61-55.
Tying a career-high for the third time with 11 points was Allison Cordes at Valley City State, which she shot a season-best from the field 71.4 percent (5-7).
Sierra Senske paced the Beavers offense to victory over Valley City State recording a new career-high 25 points before charting 17 points going 7-of-14 from the field at St. Cloud State.
Senske has now led the Beavers’ scoring eight times this season with her 17 points against St. Cloud State.
Hanna Zerr led the Beavers’ rebounding effort with a season-high seven boards and led in assists tying a season-best six against Valley City State.
Afton Kuehndorf was the Beavers standout from the bench against Minnesota Duluth, charting a career-high 14 points in 19 minutes of action. She led the offense from three-range going 2-for-2.
Tatum Sheley led the squad with eight rebounds to tie a career-best against SCSU.
As a team, Bemidji State averages 65.9 points a game and are shooting just shy of 41% from the field, including 28% from behind the arc.
BSU averages 36.1 rebounds a game and dishes out 14 assists a game. The Beavers hold an assist/turnover ratio of 0.9 to rank in the league’s top 10.
The Beavers are led by redshirt-freshman center Sierra Senske, who leads the team in scoring and rebounding. Senske averages 14.4 points and 5.9 boards a game. She also shoots 56% from the field, which places her second in the NSIC for field-goal percentage.
