The Bemidji State University men’s basketball team opens its first full Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference weekend on the road at St. Cloud State University and University of Minnesota Duluth. The Beavers (4-1, 1-0 NSIC) and Huskies (2-4, 0-1 NSIC) tipoff at 8 p.m. in Halenbeck Hall Friday while the Beavers and Bulldogs (4-2, 1-0 NSIC) play at 6 p.m. in Romano Gymnasium Saturday.
The Beavers and Huskies first met Jan. 6, 1922, totaling a series of 142 games. SCSU leads the series, 97-45, including three of the last five meetings. The Huskies swept the Beavers last year with two wins, averaging 84 points and allowing 60 points per game to the Beavers.
Bemidji State and Minnesota Duluth meet for the 130th time, dating back to Feb. 21, 1931. BSU won five of the last six games with UMD taking the most recent matchup, 81-65, in Duluth, Minn.
