The Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference named Bemidji State University men’s basketball forward William Harvey North Division Player of the Week today after his first career double-double in a 72-65 win against University of Minnesota Crookston Dec. 18.

Harvey, a 6’7” native of Albuquerque, N.M., recorded career-highs as a Beaver with 28 points and 13 rebounds in the team’s season-sweeping victory over the Golden Eagles. He missed just two shots from the field, finishing 11-of-13 and 3-of-3 from behind the arc. Harvey’s balanced attack, scoring 13 points in the first half and 15 in the second, led Bemidji State to its sixth win of the season and third in NSIC action.

Harvey also chipped in three blocks, two assists and one steal. The block and assist totals set and tied career-highs, respectively. His 28 points tied Ben Best for the most by a BSU individual in a game this season. Harvey’s 13 boards set a team high by an individual in a game this season. The rebound total was the most by a Beaver since Dec. 6, 2013 when Maxi Rosenbloom grabbed 24 rebounds against St. Cloud State University.

Harvey joins Best in receiving the NSIC North Division Player of the Week honor this season. Best previously earned the accolade Nov. 30 after games against Concordia University-St. Paul and Minnesota Crookston.
