Video – Beaver Fever Friday – Logan Riedel – Baseball

The Bemidji State University baseball team saw an eighth inning home run by William Jewell College sink its chances to finish the spring trip with a win in Liberty, Mo. The Beavers (3-13, 0-0 NSIC) scored sixth inning runs to tie the game before the Cardinals’ (10-6) two-run homer set the 5-3 final in favor of WJC.

Senior Tyler Nelson continued his hitting streak in the top of the first inning, pushing it to 14 games. The Beaver’s streak is the longest for the program since Lewis Baumann did so Feb. 26-April 3, 2013. Junior Logan Riedel began the second inning with a lead off triple that set up sophomore Mason Cisneros with his first RBI of the day and sixth of the spring trip. The Cardinals took their first lead of the game with a three-run third inning.

Riedel recorded an RBI in the sixth inning with his second hit of the day, which also scored junior Duane Miller due to a throwing error. The Beavers and Cardinals sat tied 3-3 until the bottom of the eighth inning when WJC hit the two-run shot past the fence.

Riedel and Cisneros went 2-of-4 from the plate with one RBI each. Nelson also recorded two hits and was left on base twice. Nine Beavers were left on base through the game.

Bemidji State takes a week break before opening Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference action at Concordia University-St. Paul in St. Paul, Minn. The Beavers and Golden Bears play a four-game series March 25-26 with the series-opening doubleheader at 1:30 and 3:30 p.m.
