The Bemidji State University women’s hockey team received votes in the USCHO.com Preseason poll, Monday. The Beavers will open the 2016-17 season Sep. 30 and Oct. 1 by traveling to face Syracuse University in Syracuse, N.Y.

Western Collegiate Hockey Association preseason favorite University of Wisconsin was tabbed as the top team while University of Minnesota was selected second in the poll. University of North Dakota was voted in sixth and rounds out teams from the WCHA in the poll.

The Beavers will look to build upon a record setting season last year after setting a program record with 22 wins. BSU finished the season at 22-11-3 and fell to University of Minnesota Duluth in the first round of the WCHA Playoffs.

Bemidji State opens the 2016-17 season on the road at Syracuse, Sep. 30 and Oct. 1, before returning home for its conference opening series with Minnesota.
