Video – Beaver Fever Friday – Amanda Tronick – Volleyball

Bemidji State University volleyball senior Amanda Tronick recorded her 1,000 career kill Saturday, to help the Beavers (7-13, 3-8 NSIC) defeat University of Mary, 3-1 in part of Homecoming weekend.

Tronick totaled 18 kills in the match but fellow senior Jessica Yost led the Beavers attack with 24, tying her second-highest total in her career. Yost, who reached the career milestone earlier this season on Sept. 2, now has 1,258 career kills, ranks fourth on BSU’s all-time list and needs just 43 kills to set BSU’ career record.

“We’re really happy that she was able to reach the milestone here at home and on homecoming,” said head coach Kevin Ulmer. “To cap on another eight more is outstanding that just says about her as such an incredible athlete.”

The Beavers were out-hit in the match 63 kills to 58 and the Marauders attacked at a .336 efficiency while BSU hit .295 but U-Mary committed 16 service errors and had five blocking errors to give the Beavers their third Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference win of the season.

Freshman Shelby Haney led the Beavers with 48 assists while Julie Touchett and Jessica Reega added six and five kills, respectively, to help out the Beavers’ attack. Yost led the Beavers by hitting .412 during the match while Trocnick followed at .389.

Bemidji State will be on the road this week when they travel to University of Minnesota, Crookston, Tuesday, and then face Southwest Minnesota State University and University of Sioux falls during the weekend.
