Ball movement allowed the Bemidji State University women’s basketball team to cruise to an 82-66 win over Southwest Minnesota State University at BSU Gymnasium. The Beavers (5-10, 2-9 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference) recorded 25 assists on 28 field goals during the night to take their second conference win of the season.

Senior guards Aimee Pelzer and Tatum Sheley combined for 17 of BSU’s 25 assists on the night while setting up four Beavers in double-digit scoring. Pelzer finished the game with nine assists and 12 points, while Sheley totaled eight assists and six points. Pelzer’s 12 points all came in the first half to help BSU to a 50-30 lead at halftime. Junior center Sierra Senske led all BSU scorers with 19 points, 10 coming in the second half.

Senior guard Allison Cordes and junior center Sierra Senske kicked off scoring in the game with back-to-back buckets, a 3-pointer from Cordes and a layup from Senske. The Beavers took a first-quarter-high seven-point lead, 16-9, after free throws from Senske and sophomore forward Emma Rappe.

Bemidji State hits the road for the first time in 2017 with trips to Minot State University, Jan. 20, and University of Mary, Jan. 21. BSU begins the first game of the season series against MiSU and U-Mary during the North Dakota roadtrip.
