Beaver Fever Friday – Beaver Volleyball – Shelby Haney

The Bemidji State University volleyball team fell to No. 11 Northern State University, 3-1 (25-20, 25-16, 25-27, 25-10), last Friday evening in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference action.

The Beavers had their best set of the year in set three against the Wolves attacking at a .395 efficiency with 18 kills and rallied from down 24-1 to win the set, 27-25.

Sophomore Shelby Haney reached 1,000 career assists after totaling 20 assists during the match, the second highest total of the season for the Cedar Park, Texas native.

Freshman Anna Averkamp led the Beavers with 13 kills on .226 hitting efficiency, the highest kill total for an individual since September 19.

The Bemidji State University volleyball team falls to Minnesota State University Moorhead, 3-0 (25-23, 25-20, 25-23), Saturday afternoon in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference action.

The Beavers (3-19, 0-13 NSIC) out-hit the Dragons (8-13, 3-10 NSIC) earning 38 kills to 33 for MSUM led by sophomore Julie Touchett who tallied a match-high 12 kills on .400 hitting efficiency. BSU’s middle hitters in Touchett and junior Maddie Filipiak were key factors in the game for the Beavers with Filipiak adding 10 kills, a career-high for the International Falls, Minn., native.

The Beavers will hit the road next weekend looking to snap their 14-match losing streak by traveling to University of Mary and Minot State University, Oct. 27-28.
