Bemidji State University women’s basketball closes out its season series against St. Cloud State University and University of Minnesota Duluth while continuing the program’s best start to Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play. The Beavers first match up at the Huskies at 6 p.m. Friday, Jan. 5 in St. Cloud, Minn., before facing the Bulldogs at 4 p.m. Saturday in Duluth, Minn.

Bemidji State and St. Cloud State will play in the 56th game all-time between the two programs Friday. The Huskies lead the all-time series, 38-17, with six wins in the last eight meetings. Bemidji State came away with the first meeting of the 2017-18 season Dec. 2, 52-51, in Bemidji.

The Beavers outscored the Huskies, 36-22, in the second half of the first season meeting to come away with their second win against SCSU in three seasons. Sophomore center Sydney Arrington led BSU with 16 points off the bench on 6-of-9 shooting from the field. Freshman guard Brooklyn Bachmann was the only other Beaver in double-figure scoring with 13 points on 4-of-8 shooting. Senior forward Sam Adamich set a career-high 11 rebounds in the first meeting of the season.

Saturday’s game marks the 101st all-time meeting in the Bemidji State/Minnesota Duluth rivalry. UMD owns the all-time record, 70-30, including 18 of the last 19 games. The Beavers fell in the first meeting of the 2017-18 season, 52-44, Dec. 1 in Bemidji.

The Bulldogs outscored the Beavers, 21-7, in the fourth quarter to pull away in the win. Bachmann led the Beavers in scoring with 17 points, nine coming from 3-point range, and added seven rebounds. Adamich led BSU with eight rebounds while adding one assist.
