The Bemidji State University women’s basketball program ended its five-game road trip Tuesday night against University of Minnesota Crookston in a 73-48 loss at Lysaker Gymnasium. The Beavers fall to 4-11 overall and 3-8 in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play while the Golden Eagles improve to 4-12 overall and 3-8 in the NSIC.

Like in the Beavers’ most recent games, the Golden Eagles gave them an early deficit to work out of after jumping to a 13-0 lead nearly five minutes into the game. BSU missed its first 10 field goals to open the game before freshman guard Brooklyn Bachmann made the first two of her 10 points on an unassisted jumper. UMC scored on its next two possessions to give the home squad a 16-point, 18-2 lead. Bemidji State could not find its rhythm in the first quarter while trailing 27-9 heading into the second.

Bemidji State scored its most points in the second quarter with 14 but faced a 39-23 deficit at halftime. The Golden Eagles continued to hold the Beavers cold from the field while winning both the third and fourth quarters.

Bachmann led BSU in scoring for the ninth time this season with 10 points, the only Beavers to reach double figures. Sophomore guard Erica Gartner followed Bachmann with eight points while senior forward Sam Adamich totaled six points on two three-pointers and led the team with nine rebounds.

Bemidji State shot 29.0 percent from the field, 20.0 percent from beyond the arc and went 7-for-11 from the free throw line. Minnesota Crookston finished the game shooting 39.7 percent from the floor, 35.3 percent from long range and went 17-for-18 from the charity stripe. The Golden Eagles also won the rebound margin, 44-40.

Bemidji State returns home from its five-game road trip to face University of Sioux Falls and Southwest Minnesota State University Jan. 19-20 at BSU Gymnasium.
