MiSU comes alive in second half to down BSU, 80-71

Sophomore guard Jai’Vionne Green led the Bemidji State University men’s basketball team in scoring Saturday night at Minot State Univeristy, despite falling to the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference North Division opponent, 80-71. MiSU came alive in the second half to down BSU, despite Green scoring 11 second-half points.

Although Bemidji State totaled 58 points in the paint throughout the game, Minot State was able to score 25 second-chance points and 26 points off 12 Bemidji State turnovers during the game. A trio of BSU Beavers finished with 10 points in the first half, including Green, senior guard Sharif Black and sophomore forward Logan Bader, while all four also totaled three rebounds. BSU entered halftime with a 38-31 lead.

Green scored 11 of his points in the second half, while Minot State went 45.2 percent from the field 35.7 percent from beyond the arc in the final period. Minot State also sank 16-of-18 free throws to seal the comeback win Saturday night.

Black followed Green in scoring with 18 points, while Green led the team with seven rebounds. Black added five assists while senior guard Christian Pekarek totaled a team-high six assists.
