Beaver Fever Friday – Cross Country – Courtney Anderson

The Bemidji State University cross country program will take part in its first event of the season Saturday, Sept. 8 at the fourth annual Dragon Twilight, hosted by Minnesota State University Moorhead. The 5,000-meter event held at the Tri-City Soccer Complex is scheduled to begin at 8:10 p.m.

THE PARTICIPANTS
Beaver Cross Country’s top two runners from the 2017 Dragon Twilight 4K are sophomores Brittny Hillstrom and Ashley Kinnard. Hillstrom finished with a time of 16:20.10 at the event last season, followed by Kinnard with a time of 16:20.90. Senior Courtney Anderson, junior Kristen Petron, and sophomores Ashley Herdering and Carissa Decko also took part in the Dragon Twilight last season.

Freshman Ryne Prigge enters the season as BSU’s Player to Watch as named by the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference in the 2018 Preseason Coaches’ Poll. The Ely, Minn., native has a 5K personal best time of 19:58.70 during her career at Ely High School.

HEAD COACH KEVIN KEAN
Kevin Kean leads the Beaver Cross Country program into competition for his fourth season after joining Bemidji State in July of 2015. He has helped land five student-athletes on the Fall Academic All-NSIC teams between 2015-17. The Beavers finished 14th in the NSIC Cross Country Championship meet last season.

Following the Dragon Twilight, the Beavers will head to the Roy Griak Invitational Saturday, Sept. 29, in Falcon Heights, Minn.
