Beaver Fever Friday – Cross Country – Ryne Prigge

Bemidji State University cross country freshman Ryne Prigge paced the squad Friday night during the program’s season-opening event at the Dragon Twilight in Moorhead, Minn. Prigge led the way with a 23rd-place finish and a sub-20 minute time of 19:52.3.

As a team, the Beavers finished the Dragon Twilight seventh with eight total participants. Following Prigge, who was selected as BSU’s Athlete to Watch for 2018, was sophomore Kristen Petron with a 39th-place time of 20:35.5. Freshman Allyna Storms came in less than 30 seconds behind Petron with a time of 21:03.9, good for 41st in the event.

The following two Beavers crossed the finish line less than 10 seconds apart as sophomore Ashley Kinnard took 53rd (21:53.5) and sophomore Ashley Herdering finished 58th (22:05.9). Freshman Ellen Teiken (73rd, 25:53.2), senior Courtney Anderson (75th, 26:54.8) and sophomore Carissa Decko (78th, 30:42.2) wrapped up the final participants for Bemidji State.

Friday night was the first time any of the Beavers Cross Country student-athletes had run in a 5K during a BSU event.

Bemidji State continues its cross country season Saturday, Sept. 29 at the Roy Griak Invitational held in Falcon Heights, Minn.
