Wagner leads Beavers at SMSU Spring Challenge with career-best top-5 finish

Freshman Kalley Wagner finished a career-best tied for fifth individually after leading the Bemidji State University women’s golf team with a score of 155 (78-77, +11) at the SMSU Spring Challenge held at the Coldwater Golf Club in Avondale, Ariz. The Beavers finished fifth as a team (7 teams) after finishing with a team score of 657 (322-335) in the two-round, two day tournament.

Lindenwood University took home the team title with a score of 621 (311-310), eight strokes in front of second place University of Nebraska-Kearney (306-323=629).

Behind Wagner, Erica Gartner followed by shooting 164 (79-85), capped off by a career-low 79 on day one to tie for 20th individually while Lauren Stockmoe followed closely behind at 167 (78-89) to place 28th. Taiylor Ellingson (88-86=174) and Elise Stockmoe (87-187=174) round out the Beavers’ top five scores while Hailey Hinners (96-84=180), Grace Van Brocklin (99-105=204) and Geana Guillard (97-112=209) competed as individuals.

The Beavers’ next event will take place at the Sunnyside Country Club in Waterloo, Iowa for the Upper Iowa Invite, March 30-31.
