Softball splits final day at Husky Invite
The Bemidji State University softball team concluded play at the Husky Invite by splitting its games against William Jewell College and Viterbo University Saturday night. The Beavers (4-3) fell to William Jewell 6-2 in game one but rebounded with a 13-8 victory over Viterbo in game two.
In game one, the Beavers were led by senior Olivia Tucker who went 3-for-4 at the plate with two doubles and two RBI while sophomore Elaina Christiansen went 2-for-4 with one double and one run scored. In the circle, junior Stephi Dullum pitched four innings and allowed two runs while earning four strikeouts while sophomore Kaidron McClafferty was credited with the loss after pitching two innings and allowed four runs.
The Beavers used a five-run fifth inning to earn their fourth win of the season by defeating the V-Hawks 13-8 to wrap-up play in St. Cloud. Tucker once again paced the team at the plate by going 1-for-2 with a home run, two walks and four RBI. Freshman Emmarie Yeager followed by going 2-for-3 at the plate and drove in three runs. Freshman Elizabeth Hansen went 3-for-3 and drove in one run for her first three hit game.
Tucker also earned the win in the circle after she pitched three innings and earned six strikeouts.
Bemidji State returns to action Friday, Feb. 28 when it travels to Peoria, Ill., to face Quincy University for a doubleheader.
