Softball hits the road to face Quincy and St. Ambrose
The Bemidji State University softball team continues the non-conference portion of its season this weekend by traveling to Peoria, Ill., and Davenport, Iowa to face Quincy University and St. Ambrose University. The Beavers (4-3) begin the weekend by facing the Quincy Hawks (2-5) Friday, Feb. 28 for a doubleheader at the Louisville Slugger Dome starting at 11 a.m. BSU then travels to Davenport to face the St. Ambrose Fighting Bees (6-4) for one game at the Ambrose Dome Saturday at 11 a.m.
Bemidji State has been led by sophomore Elaina Christiansen through the first seven games of the season after she has totaled 14 hits in 23 at bats for a .609 batting average. That mark is best in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference as well as her slugging percentage of 1.348 and four home runs. She is followed by freshman Emmarie Yeager who is batting .438 with seven hits in 16 at bats, one home run, one double and eight RBI.
In the circle, Bemidji State has used four pitchers to pitch 47.0 innings. Senior Olivia Tucker leads the team with 13.0 innings pitched and has an 0-1 record with a 10.23 earned run average while freshman Kyla Damerow follows with 12.0 innings pitched and is 1-0 with a 4.08 earned run average. Junior Stephi Dullum leads the team with a 1.91 earned run average in 11.0 innings while sophomore Kaidron McClafferty leads the team with a 2-1 record in 11.0 innings and sports a 3.82 earned run average.
