For the first and only time of the season, the Bemidji State University women’s hockey team will face Ohio State University this weekend. The Beavers (1-2-1, 1-2-1 WCHA) travel to Columbus, Ohio for a two-game series against the No. 3/4 Buckeyes (2-2-0, 2-2-0 WCHA) to bring in the 2021 new year. Game one of the series is scheduled for Friday, January 1 with puck drop at 5:07 p.m. CST followed by game two Saturday at 2:07 p.m. CST. Bemidji State and Ohio State will meet for the 87th and 88th meetings in the all-time series history.
The Buckeyes lead the all-time series record at 45-28-13 (.634) and are 24-12-6 (.643) when playing in Columbus.
Last season Bemidji State went 0-3-1 against the Buckeyes and are currently winless (0-4-1) in their last five meetings.
Bemidji State stands sixth in the WCHA with five points and has posted a 1-2-1 record in both league play and overall.
The Beavers last played Dec. 17-18 where they traveled to Minnesota State University, Mankato and earned two points against the Mavericks with a shootout win in game one but fell in regulation in game two.
Of the Beavers’ four games this season, three have gone into overtime while two have been decided in the extra period and one has gone into the shootout.
