Bemidji State saw several program records fall last season en route to an 11th place finish at the 2020 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Indoor Championships. BSU’s Field Athlete to Watch, Zoe Christensen, became just the second All-American thrower for the program since Sheena Devine in 2007 and 2008, was named to the USTFCCCA NCAA DII All-Region Team, and earned All-NSIC after finishing second in the shot put. Not only did she excel in the shot put, Christensen also set seven of BSU’s all-time top-10 weight throw marks, including the program record with a throw of 59-feet-05.00-inches.
BSU’s Track Athlete to Watch, Faith Beck, finished fifth in the 60-meter hurdles at the 2020 NSIC Indoor Championships with a program-record time of 8.94. She recorded five 60m hurdle times that ranked among the top 10 all-time at BSU.
Including Beck’s 60m hurdles time, the Beavers saw three program records broken at the 2020 NSIC Indoor Championships. Junior mid-distance runner Ryne Prigge finished fifth at the conference meet in the 800m run with a time of 2:16.91 while senior distance runner Kristen Petron finished 12th in the mile run with a time of 5:16.93.
Bemidji State was selected to finish 10th overall in the 2021 NSIC Preseason Indoor Track & Field Coaches Poll.
Head Coach Kevin Kean, entering his sixth season leading Bemidji State, helped the squad earn 12 2019-20 Winter NSIC All-Academic Team selections, including 10 on the All-Academic Team of Excellence.
