Beaver Fever Friday – Mary Goodwin – Cross Country

Bemidji State Cross Country to run in 6K at Roy Griak Invite on Friday

The Bemidji State University cross country team is set to run in its second race of the season on Friday at the Roy Griak Invitational, hosted by the University of Minnesota. The Beavers participants will begin their 6,000-meter race at 12:45 p.m. from the Les Bolstad Golf Course in Falcon Heights, Minn.

The Beavers combined to finish fourth among nine teams during the 4,000-meter Dragon Twilight in Moorhead, Minn., on Friday, Sept. 10. All but one of BSU’s competing student-athletes ran their first career 4K with the Beavers, with the exception of senior Ryne Prigge. She led Bemidji State in the results with a 14th-place finish and a time of 15:17.6. Prigge’s time ranks second all-time in Beaver Cross Country history, trailing only herself with a time of 14:52.8 set at the same meet in 2019.

A sophomore duo making their first appearances on the course for BSU jumped into the record books while marking the fourth and fifth fastest 4K races in program history. Mary Goodwin crossed the finish line three spots behind Prigge in 17th with a time of 15:28.7 while Zoey Mills came in 21st with a time of 15:36.0.

Rounding out the top five for BSU was sophomore Abby Syverson in 46th with a time of 16:38.4 and senior Maryse Mbenoun with a time of 16:58.9.
