BSU travels south this weekend facing Upper Iowa and Winona State
The Bemidji State University volleyball team will travel south this weekend as they face Upper Iowa University and Winona State University.
The Beavers (3-16, 2-9 NSIC) will start competition in Fayette, Iowa, to take on the Peacocks (10-8, 4-7 NSIC) on Friday, Oct. 14. The Beavers will then travel north to Winona, Minn., as they face the Warriors (9-9, 5-6 NSIC) the following day.
Match one for the Beavers will start at 6:00 p.m. against Upper Iowa, followed by a 2:00 p.m., start against Winona State, Saturday. Live stats can be found here.
The Beavers are paced by junior Hallie Mertz this season who has totaled 184 kills and averages 2.75 k/s and is on pace for an over 250-kill season. She is followed by sophomore Lauren Sitter and senior Ashley East who each have 108 and 89 kills, respectively. As a team BSU is hitting .142, Zayda Priebe in her 68 total attacks is hitting .353 and leading the team, and East is leading for over 100 attacks with .216.
Hally Holker and Emily Wade are both approaching 300 assists on the season. Holker has assisted on 285 points this season and Wade and set up 269.
On defense, junior Lauren Justesen leads BSU with 154 digs in her 39 sets played. Ashley Crowl and Mertz round out the top three in digs for the Beavers tallying 144 and 135 respectively. Junior Rylie Bjerklie leads BSU at the net with 41 blocks while senior Rylee Pompa has been a part of 29.
