Martan named CCHA Forward of the Week after first pair of games with Beavers
Fifth-year transfer from Canisius College Mitchell Martan made an immediate impact for the Bemidji State University Men’s Hockey team this past weekend and has been named the Central Collegiate Hockey Association Forward of the Week for his efforts.
Martan posted a league-best four points off two goals and two assists, all of which he recorded in the Beavers’ 5-4 overtime win over Arizona State University, Saturday. Martan also scored the game-winning, overtime goal in the game to cap-off his four-point night while also scoring a power-play goal in the game.
A native of Whitby, Ont., Martan recorded the second-most shots among league skaters with 14 and posted a +2 rating on the ice.
Joining Martan was Minnesota State University, Mankato’s Jake Livingstone as the league’s Defenseman of the Week, Bowling Green State University’s Zack Rose as the goaltender of the week and Ferris State University’s Connor McGrath as the rookie of the week.
Bemidji State will have its bye week next weekend and will next play Oct. 21-22 when it travels to Michigan Tech University to being Central Collegiate Hockey Association play.
