Beavers celebrate senior night Saturday against the Dragons
The Bemidji State University Women’s Basketball team enters the final four games of the season with its final two-game home stand this weekend against Northern State University and Minnesota State University, Moorhead in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference at the BSU Gymnasium. The Beavers start the weekend with the Wolves on Friday at 7:30 p.m., followed by senior night on Saturday as BSU takes on MSUM at 5:30 p.m.
The Series vs Northern State
Northern State leads the all-time series against Bemidji State, 62-11.
BSU and NSU met early this year on Dec. 10, 2022 with a 62-48 win for Northern State in Aberdeen, S.D.
Northern State leads the series when played in Bemidji, Minn., 26-9.
Bemidji State and Northern State first met Jan. 24, 1986, a 77-74 win for NSU.
The Series vs MSU Moorhead
MSU Moorhead leads the all-time series against Bemidji State, 71-43
The Beavers and Dragons last met earlier this year on Dec. 9, 2022, with an 68-42 win by MSUM in Moorhead, Minn.
MSU Moorhead leads the series when played in Bemidji, Minn., 40-33.
Bemidji State and MSU Moorhead first met Jan. 1, 1968, 33-14 win for MSUM.
The Beavers started last weekend with their first road conference win of the season defeating Minot State University 70-61 then falling to University of Mary 39-48 in a defensive battle.
The Beavers trailed Minot State going into the half but a strong second half lifted BSU over MSU for its second conference victory in a row.
Bemidji State trailed Mary by 19 in the final quarter but the Beavers were able to cut the lead to nine before the final horn.
Trinity Yoder made history in the win against Minot State making the most free throws in BSU history. Going into the game Yoder needed 13 to break the record and she made 13 all in the fourth quarter breaking Sierra Senske’s record of 382.
Yoder was held scoreless for the first 28 minutes against Minot State before making a layup in the third quarter. She followed that up with 19 points in the final quarter to lift the Beavers to a win.
In the low scoring affair verse the Marauders Yoder broke into double-digits in the final minute with a pair of free throws to record her second double-double of the season with 12 rebounds and 11 points.
Bemidji State sits 15th in the NSIC for scoring offense averaging 58.6 points per game and 14th in scoring defense allowing 69.2 ppg.
Sam Pogatchnik leads BSU in rebounds with 146 and ranks 11th in the conference averaging 6.6 rebounds per game. As a team the Beavers rank 10th in the NSIC with 35.23 rpg.
BSU is 16th in field goal percentage (.376) and 15th in 3-point field goal percentage (.273).
The Beavers are 13th in turnovers averaging 16.7 per game and 13th in assist to turnover ratio.
