Multiple top-five finishes highlight day two of NSIC Indoor Championships
Doss, Goodwin, Hall and Erickson all record top-five results
The Bemidji State University Women’s Track and Field team closed the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Indoor Championships on Sunday collecting four top-five individual finishes.
Tierra Doss reached a new personal-best in the shot put while also coming in third. She started to hit her stride over the final three throws, as Doss hit 45-10.50 for her new PR on her fifth attempt. That came right after she hit 45-05.75. By placing third, Doss earned All-NSIC accolades.
Mary Goodwin continued with the PR marks in the 3,000-meter. She crossed with a time of 10:03.30 to come in fourth. Goodwin trimmed over six seconds off her previous top time on the season.
Alaina Hall posted a new PR and provisional time in the 60-meter during the prelims on Saturday. She followed that up by placing fifth on Sunday and hitting another PR with a time of 7.64.
Lexi Erickson added the fourth top-five result in the 800-meter when she crossed at 2:17.09 to come in fifth.
There’s also an update from the distance medley relay on Saturday. Following the updated conversion track numbers in the DMR, the team of Natalie Fultz, Goodwin, Abby Syverson and Erickson set another program record with a time of 12:01.65.
Fultz set a new personal-best in the pentathlon collecting 3,056 points to come in 12th. She closed the event out strong in the 800-meter placing fourth with a time of 2:29.00. Fultz also collected an eighth-place finish in the high jump clearing 5-1.25. It was a new season-best time in the 60-meter hurdles coming in at 9.88 to place 17th. She also placed 17th in the shot put (29-2.75) and the long jump (15-3.5). Fultz also competed in the high jump outside of the pentathlon clearing 4-10.5 to come in 18th.
In addition to Goodwin in the 3,000, Erickson also ran coming in 12th with a time of 10:24.98.
Zayda Priebe also competed in the shot put with Doss and she just missed hitting her PR with a distance of 38-03.25 to come in 20th.
Abbie Disbrow just missed on a couple of attempts in the triple jump, fouling on all three tries to not record a distance.
The 4×400 relay of Fultz, Josie Aitken, Abby Syverson and Erickson came in seventh with a time of 4:02.21. That should have a track conversion that will move the time under four minutes.
As for team results, Bemidji State came away with 25 points to place 11th. Minnesota State claimed the title with 216.5 points, followed by Augustana (95) and Winona State (74).
With the indoor regular season and conference championship now complete, the Beavers will wait for the NCAA release that will come out this Tuesday, February 28 announcing the field for the NCAA Championships. The 2023 NCAA Indoor Championships will take place March 10-11 in Virginia Beach, Va.
