Cross Country travels to Sioux Falls for Augustana Twilight

The Bemidji State University Cross Country team opens the 2023 campaign this Friday evening at the Augustana Twilight. The 5,000-meter event will begin at 8:30 p.m.

This will be the first time the Beavers have opened with the Augustana Twilight. Normally Bemidji State begins the new season at the Dragon Twilight, which they will visit next Friday (Sep. 8).

Bemidji State will have five returners and four freshmen set to join the team for 2023. Mary Goodwin and Carol Miller return as seniors. Maggie McCarthy, Callie Ressler and Nadia Vaughn will be back as sophomores.

Carmen Lyon, Hadley Stuehrenberg, Emma Hochhalter, and Sydnie Price will join the team this year as freshmen.

Last year, Goodwin posted several personal-best times in the 4,000, 5,000 and 6,000-meter. Goodwin began the 2022 season with a PR time of 14:26.7 in the 4k to come in 16th. Then in the 5k was a time of 18:58.0 for another new PR. To close the regular season, Goodwin ran to a time of 22:30.7 in the 6k. She placed 39th at the NSIC Championships and 78th at the NCAA Central Region.

Miller set several new personal-best times in the 4,000, 5,000 and 6,000-meter. She began the season with a new PR time of 15:51.5 in the 4k. Miller posted a time of 20:08.2 in the 5k and then in the 6k at the NCAA Central Region with a time of 24:29.0.

McCarthy had top times in the 4,000 of 15:38.7 to open the 2022 season, a time of 19:56.8 in the 5,000 and then a time of 23:39.0 during the NCAA Central Region in the 6,000.

Ressler posted top times of 17:28.9 in the 4,000, a time of 22:54.6 in the 5,000 and then a time of 28:54.8 in the 6,000 during the NCAA Central Region.

Vaughn had top times last year of 16:22.9 in the 4,000, a time of 20:26.2 in the 5,000 and then a time of 24:24.0 in the 6,000 during the NCAA Central Region.
