Bemidji State Soccer continues NSIC action on the road at Mary and Minot State

Beavers aim to extend 11-match unbeaten streak at Marauders and Beavers

The (RV) Bemidji State University Women’s Soccer team aims to extend is 11-match unbeaten streak this weekend as Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference action continues on the road at University of Mary and Minot State University, Friday, Oct. 13 and Sunday.

The Beavers (7-0-4, 5-0-2 NSIC) put their conference leading nine-match unbeaten streak up against the Marauders (2-6-3, 1-4-2 NSIC) Friday at 3 p.m., in Mary, N.D. BSU will then travel to Minot, N.D., for a Beaver Battle against Minot State Sunday at Noon.

Bemidji State is one of 14 teams left in Division II with an unbeaten record.

The Beavers reentered the United Soccer Coaches Top-25 national rankings and are receiving votes in the poll.

The Beavers enter the weekend fourth in the NSIC standings with 17 points, hold a 5-0-2 record in conference play and trail conference leading St. Cloud State University by two points. BSU has played one less conference match (7) than the three teams in front of it in the standings (8).

Bemidji State is coming off a 1-0-1 weekend last week at home and defeated Minnesota State University, Moorhead 1-0 and tied Northern State University 1-1 the following Sunday.

Sophomore Katrina Barthelt scored the game-winning goal in Friday’s match against the Dragons while senior Lauren Hodny scored the Beavers’ lone goal in their 1-1 draw with the Wolves.

Barthelt scored her seventh goal of the season which leads the team and NSIC. She is tied for 31st in DII in total goals.

Her 16 points (7g-2a) on the season also leads the conference and averages 1.45 points per game, best in the NSIC.

Freshman Madeline Davey follows Barthelt with seven points off three goals and an assist.

10 different Beavers have scored a goal this season, the most in the NSIC.

Bemidji State leads the conference with 21 goals scored this season and have allowed just five goals, the second fewest. BSU’s 1.46 scoring margin leads the NSIC.

The Beavers are tied for second in the NSIC with six shutouts and all six have been recorded by starting goalkeeper Edie Frantzen.

Frantzen ranks second in the NSIC in shutouts (6) and goals against average (.455) and seventh in save percentage (.808).

Bemidji State 13-12-2 all-time against Mary but have won the last four meetings between the two teams. The Beavers are 9-0-1 against the Marauders over the last 10 matches.

The Beavers are 12-5-1 all-time against Minot State and are on a two-match winning streak versus the rival Beavers. BSU is 8-1-1 over the last 10 matches against Minot State including meeting earlier this season in a non-conference setting on Sept. 12.

Bemidji State earned a 1-0 victory over the Beavers with Lucy Stanton netting her first collegiate goal and Frantzen posting a two-save shutout.
