Beaver Fever Friday – Mary Goodwin – Cross Country

Beavers set to compete in NSIC Championships this Saturday in Bismarck

Having last competed on Oct. 6, the Bemidji State University Cross Country team returns to the course this Saturday when they will compete in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) Championships on the 6,000-meter McDowell Dam course.

This will be the second 6k of the season for the Beavers having run that distance last time out at the Jimmie Invitational on Oct. 6. The Beavers finished fifth out of 11 teams with Mary Goodwin posting a top-five finish placing fourth with a time of 22:33.6. Maggie McCarthy added a top 20 result coming in 19th with a time of 23:45.5. McCarthy just missed a new personal-best, while Carol Miller did post a new PR time of 24:17.6 to come in 28th. Nadia Vaughn posted a time of 25:22.2 to place 41st, while freshmen Hadley Stuehrenberg (48th, 25:54.6) and Carmen Lyon (52nd, 26:32.1) competed in their first collegiate 6k’s. Callie Ressler posted a new PR time as well coming in at 27:08.7 to place 57th.

At last year’s NSIC Championships in Wayne, Neb., the Beavers placed ninth out of 16 teams. Goodwin placed 39th, with McCarthy next in 66th. Returners Miller (85th), Vaughn (102nd) and Ressler (134th) also competed in last year’s NSIC Championship.

This will be the first time since 2015 that Bemidji State has competed in Bismarck. That year the Beavers entered the Mike Thorson Invitational on Oct. 23rd right before the NSIC Championships.

The NSIC Championships will begin at 10 a.m. and there will be live video and live results. Live video can be found here and live results can be found here.
