Women’s Basketball to kick off four-game road trip with No. 11 MSU and WSU
Beavers head to Mavericks and Warriors to start four-game NSIC road trip
Bemidji State University Women’s Basketball travels to Mankato, Minn. and Winona, Minn. Jan. 10 and 11 to take on No. 11 Minnesota State University Mankato Mavericks and Winona State University Warriors, respectively.
The Beavers and Mavericks have met 53 times since the series’ creation in 1976. Recently, the Mavericks have dominated both the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference and the NCAA, most recently winning last season’s national championship alongside the MSU Men’s Basketball team. Currently ranked 11th in the by the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA), the Mavericks hold the all-time series record over the Beavers at 39-14. MSU has won the last four games over BSU with the most recent BSU win coming in 2021 in an 82-76 overtime victory.
Against the Warriors, the Beavers take the series advantage at 44-40. Most recently, the Warriors have found themselves on a three-game win streak. The Beavers’ most recent win came during the 2022 NSIC tournament with a 63-51 victory in the first round.
The 4-8 Beavers are set to take their first road trip of 2025 with stops at MSU and WSU. After splitting last weekend’s games against Wayne State College and Augustana University, Bemidji State moved to 2-6 in the NSIC.
Tieryn Plasch continues to lead the Beavers in scoring (126 points), field-goal shooting (.441 percent), three-point field goals (.446 percent) and minutes played (30.9 per game). Close behind Plasch is fellow captain Erin Barrette at 100 points, .376 from the field and 30.8 minutes per game. Barrette leads the team in steals and assists with 2.5 assists per game and 1.5 steals.
Aubrey Heyer has skyrocketed to the top of the Beaver rebounding leaderboard with 62. Averaging 5.2 per game, she has grabbed 10 offensive boards and 52 defensive, averaging 4.3 defensive rebounds per game.
This weekend kicks off a four-game series of road games for the Green and White. Following this weekend, the Beavers head to the University of Minnesota Duluth and Concordia University St. Paul on Jan. 17 and 18, respectively. The team will be back in Bemidji on Jan. 24 to host the Southwest Minnesota State University Mustangs at 7:30 p.m. All Beaver Basketball games are available on the Beaver Radio Network.
