Beavers return to action with road trip to (RV) Minnesota State
BSU Women’s Hockey returns after consecutive bye weeks with road trip to (RV) Mavericks
The Bemidji State University Women’s Hockey team makes its return to the ice after consecutive bye weeks and hits the road for a Western Collegiate Hockey Association series at (RV) Minnesota State University, Mankato.
The Beavers (2-4-0, 0-4-0 WCHA) prepare for their first meeting with the Mavericks (5-5-0, 1-5-0 WCHA) this season and begin their two-game series Friday, Oct. 31 at 6:02 p.m. The teams will then close out their series Saturday at 2:02 p.m.
Each game will be streamed exclusively online at Big Ten Plus with Minnesota State Athletics providing play-by-play. A Beaver Radio Network broadcast will also be available online at www.beaverradionetwork.com or on the radio dial at FM 94.3.
Bemidji State finally makes its return to the ice after two bye weeks in-a-row and last played Oct. 10-11 at No. 2 Ohio State University.
The Beavers are led by junior captain Hailey Armstrong who has six goals in six games and is tied for sixth nationally averaging a goal per game.
She is followed by junior Kate Johnson who has five points off a team-high four assists.
Sophomore Morgan Smith is third on the team with four points off a goal and three assists.
Armstrong’s six goals on 14 shots leads the WCHA with a 0.43 shot percentage.
Junior and St. Cloud State transfer Carmen Bray leads BSU’s blueline with three points tallying three assists in six games this season.
Sophomore Kaitlin Groess has started five-of-six games in net for the Beavers and is 2-3-0 with a 4.27 goals against average and .866 save percentage.
Senior and Saint Anselm transfer Ava Hills made her first appearances in between the pipes at Ohio State for the Beavers where she stopped 70-of-72 shots she faced.
Bemidji State leads the WCHA averaging 14.5 blocked shots per game.
5-foot-0 inch freshman Katy Comstock leads the team and is tied for 11th in the conference with 12 blocked shots.
Bemidji State is sixth in the WCHA with a power-play percentage of .158 (3-of-19) and fifth on the penalty kill at .833 (10-of-12).
Bemidji State is 48-46-15 all-time against the Mavericks but just 23-27-5 when playing on the road.
The Mavericks have owned the series over the last 10 games and are 8-2-0 in the last 10 meetings.
Sophomore Morgan Smith has been the Beavers’ top scorer against the Mavericks totaling five points (3g-2a) in four career games against MSU.
