Beaver Travel Blog (Sunday)

Well, on the ice today, things could have gone better! If you haven’t seen yet, Bemidji State will play #2 New Hampshire Monday at 3pm (central time) after the Wildcats lost to Dartmouth 4-1 Sunday night.

So, what did the guys do all day?

8:45am – wake up call and breakfast
9:15am – leave for practice (some guys walked – about 10 blocks, some guys road in the van)
10:30am – practiced for a half an hour
11:30am – pregame meal
1:45pm – left for the game
4pm – game versus UMass
7:30pm – postgame meal

I did NOT eat breakfast, but did go to the practice to setup equipment. The press box at the rink only has spots for two radio stations. Since there are four stations here (one for each team) I had to tear down FAST after the game so that the UNH crew could get set up. After practice, I recorded Tom’s pregame interview and came back to the hotel. After editing the interview, I went to lunch with Tom Serratore, Bert Gilling and Jeremy Coupal.

After lunch, I came back to the hotel and finished my prep work for the game. About 1:30pm, I left for the rink.

Once the game ended, I hustled back to the hotel to watch the end of the Packer / Viking game. Being from Wisconsin, I’m a huge Packer fan. Needless to say, today wasn’t a very good day for me! Both of “my” teams lost!

After the Packer game, I produced and edited the “open” for the game on Monday. I had to record two versions of it, since I didn’t know who we were playing yet. Only the last 10 seconds changed…so it wasn’t a huge deal to do two of them.

I also recorded my recap for the website. Once again, two versions.

After I got done with that, I went to a local watering hole for dinner.

Right now, I have the late NFL game on, while typing this. I’ve printed my flashcards for the UNH team so that I can study them tomorrow. I’ve also posted the gameday blog for tomorrow and have my “series history” notes done for UNH. Pretty easy…never played before!

Now that it’s almost midnight, It’s time for bed. Early games are always a bit of a scramble!

Here’s to a better day tomorrow for the Green!
