The Nebraska Omaha Mavericks halted a long winless streak to the BSU Beavers with a dominating 5-1 win Saturday at the Sanford Center. Bemidji State played well in the first period, but trailed 1-0. In the second period, both teams scored a goal. In the third, with 4:30 left, trailing by a 3-1 margin, BSU pulled goalie Dan Bakala.
The Mavericks made the Beavers pay, scoring two goals in the span of a minute.
BSU was outshot 41-21 on the night. The Beavers will host North Dakota next Saturday and Sunday.
