BEMIDJI, Minn. — Bemidji State University men’s hockey defenseman Cody Bostock (Sr., Salmon Arm, British Columbia) and center Travis Winter (Sr., St. Cloud, Minn.) have been selected to the ESPN The Magazine / College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) University Division All-District V At-Large Teams. Bostock debuts on the all-district squad with a first-team nod, while Winter logs his second consecutive season on the second team.
An alternate captain and Pre-Season All-College Hockey America pick, Bostock roamed the blue line in each of BSU’s 37 games in 2008-09, while starting 25 contests. His 3-13=16 points were good for sixth on the team and second among BSU defensemen. A regular on a Beaver power-play unit that finished the season ranked sixth in the country at 20.5 percent, Bostock totaled three goals and six assists to sit fourth among his teammates. For his efforts, Bostock was selected Second-Team All-CHA at the conclusion of the regular season.
Bostock leaves Bemidji State after piling up 15 goals and 39 assists for 54 points during his career to sit 32nd on BSU’s All-time Defensemen Scoring list and 19th on BSU’s Division I-era points list. One of the Beavers’ most consistent players, logged time in 140 games during his four-year career and capped his stint in the green and white playing in 70 consecutive contests.
Bostock carries a 3.82 grade point average in business administration.
Winter, a two-time All-CHA pick and the Beavers’ captain in 2008-09, saw time in 33 games in 2008-09 despite battling injury for a large portion of the season. He posted 6-1=7 points to finish his career with 28 goals, 37 assists and 65 total points. Ranked 13th on the Beavers’ Division I-ear scoring list, Winter finished his collegiate eligibility 14th at BSU in Division I goals scored (28) tied for 15th in assists (37), while he accumulated 16 power-play goals to rank seventh in the program’s 10-year history at the major college hockey level.
Majoring in business administration, Winter holds a 3.83 cumulative GPA.
The pair of seniors were members of three CHA title teams, Two CHA Tournament squads and made two NCAA Tournament appearances, including the Beavers’ appearance in the 2009 Frozen Four.
Bostock and Winter were joined by Second-Team All-District I selection Vince Rocco of Niagara University as representatives of the CHA and were two of just five ice hockey student-athletes selected among the 20 recognized on the District V first and second teams.
Bostock and Winter continue a legacy of academic excellence within the BSU men’s hockey program. Since 2003, 12 BSU skaters have been selected as all-district honorees, while Peter Jonsson advanced on to garner First-Team Academic All-America laurels following the 2005 campaign.
